Employer of Record in Vietnam, built for engineering teams.
An Employer of Record (EOR) is the legal employer for your team in a country where you have no entity. AppTuring is that employer in Vietnam: we sign the local contracts, run payroll, pay statutory contributions, and lock in IP assignment, while you hire and direct the engineers.
What an Employer of Record does in Vietnam
Local law requires a local employer to run payroll, withhold tax, and pay statutory contributions. If you don't have a Vietnamese entity, an EOR becomes that employer on your behalf. AppTuring hires your engineers through our licensed local entities, so they are full employees — not contractors — and you direct their work exactly as you would an in-house hire.

What an Employer of Record costs in Vietnam
AppTuring charges a flat $499 per engineer per month — the same whether the engineer earns $2,000 or $5,000. Each month you get one invoice with three lines:
- Salary — the engineer's gross pay, passed through at cost.
- Employer statutory contributions — about 23.5% on top of gross salary (social insurance 17.5%, health 3%, unemployment 1%, trade-union fee 2%), passed through at cost.
- AppTuring fee — a flat $499, covering contracts, payroll, filings, benefits administration, IP assignment, and compliance support.
For example, a senior engineer at a $3,500 gross salary comes to $4,822 a month all-in ($3,500 salary + $823 statutory + $499 fee). Against the modeled fully loaded cost of an equivalent US engineer, the calculator shows savings of 60% or more at every seniority level and role. There is no setup fee, no deposit, and no per-payslip charge.
EOR, your own entity, or contractors?
There are three ways to put engineers on the ground in Vietnam. For most US teams hiring 1–30 engineers, an EOR is the fastest compliant route.
Employer of Record
- About 10 business days from your choice
- No setup cost — a flat monthly fee per engineer
- AppTuring owns payroll, tax, and Labor Code compliance
- Best for 1–30 engineers and speed
Your own entity
- 2–6 months and $15k–$30k+ to set up
- Your team runs accounting, payroll, and compliance
- Makes sense for a large, permanent local presence
Contractors paid directly
- Carries misclassification and permanent-establishment exposure
- Engineers you already work with can move onto compliant employment contracts through an EOR
EOR vs. your own entity in Vietnam compares cost, speed, and risk side by side, and the calculator shows the break-even for your team size.
IP protection and compliance, built in
Every engineer assigns their work and inventions to AppTuring, which assigns them onward to your US entity through a back-to-back assignment. With enforceable NDAs, the chain of title runs unbroken to you.
Because engineers are full employees of our licensed Vietnamese entities, you avoid the misclassification and permanent-establishment exposure of paying overseas contractors directly. We withhold and file personal income tax and statutory contributions for each employee and handle offboarding in line with the Vietnam Labor Code.

Employer of Record in Vietnam: common questions
What is an Employer of Record in Vietnam?+
An Employer of Record (EOR) in Vietnam is a licensed local company that legally employs your engineers on your behalf. AppTuring signs the employment contracts, runs payroll, taxes, and benefits, and carries local compliance, while you interview, select, and direct the day-to-day work.
How much does an Employer of Record cost in Vietnam?+
AppTuring charges a flat $499 per engineer per month. Salary and the employer statutory contributions (about 23.5% of gross salary) are passed through at cost on one monthly invoice. For example, a senior engineer at $3,500 gross costs $4,822 a month all-in. There is no setup fee or deposit.
How long does it take to hire through an EOR in Vietnam?+
We deliver an interview-ready shortlist within five business days. After you choose, a typical engineer is contracted and onboarded in around ten business days. Setting up your own Vietnamese entity typically takes 2–6 months.
Do I need a legal entity in Vietnam to hire engineers?+
No. You sign one US B2B agreement with AppTuring. You don't register a Vietnamese company, open a local bank account, or file Vietnamese taxes — our licensed local entities are the legal employer.
Who owns the IP and source code?+
You do. Each engineer assigns their work and inventions to AppTuring, which assigns them onward to your US entity through a back-to-back assignment. Enforceable NDAs protect your code on both sides of the Pacific.
Can I move my existing Vietnamese contractors onto an EOR?+
Yes. We can onboard contractors you already work with onto compliant employment contracts, so you keep the people and remove the misclassification risk.
What happens when an engagement ends?+
We handle compliant offboarding — statutory notice periods, final settlements, and any severance — in line with the Vietnam Labor Code. There is no long-term lock-in; you can cancel with notice.
